Board Meeting Notes

October 30, 2007

 

Mrs. Sue Helms, President, called the board meeting of the Madison City Board of Education to order at 4:00 P.M. in the board room at the Teacher Resource Center.

 

Ms. Sally Warden, with the Madison Arts Council, presented checks to all schools from the council. The money is to be used to support the arts at each school. She also announced that three teachers in the school system received grants.

 

Mr. Kenneth Clark, Supervisor of Operations, and Mr. David Smith, Financial Consultant, present a PowerPoint of maintenance projects completed in 2007.

 

The Board approved minutes from the meeting held on September 27, 2007. The Board also approved a child nutrition program produce bid, a Vending/Concessions bid, a secondary Literature/Reading and Drivers Education textbook committee and timeline, an elementary Literature/Reading textbook committee and timeline, participation in a Tech Prep Consortium with Calhoun Community College, enter into a contract with Gude Management Group, LLC, to provide enrollment projection and enrollment analysis services for the Madison City Schools, delegates for the Alabama Association of School Board Delegate Assembly to be held December 6, 2007 and personnel actions.

 

Announcements:

 

Mr. Jamie Hill was announced as the new assistant principal at Bob Jones High School.
Dr. Shelia Nash-Stevenson has been nominated for Alabama Association of School Boards All-State Board Member of the Year.

 

The next meeting was scheduled for November 8, 2007, at 5:00 P.M. in the board room at the Teacher Resource Center. A work session will immediately follow the meeting.
