Board Meeting Notes
July 12, 2006
Mrs. Sue Helms, president, called the meeting of the Madison City Board of Education to order at 4:10 P.M. in the board room at the Teacher Resource Center and Central Office.
Interviews were held with two possible search firms that would like to conduct the search for the new superintendent for the school system.
Mr. Jerry Mercer, auditor for the Madison City Schools, presented the 2005 Audit Report for the school system. Mr. Mercer stated that the Accounting Department is doing a great job, and there were no findings to report to the Board and public.
The Board approved minutes from the meeting held on June 15, 2006. The Board also approved textbooks for Latin courses offered at Bob Jones High School, a roofing settlement, Bid # 2006-07(Lease for Portable Classrooms), the re-bid of Maintenance of Elevators contract, May 2006 financial statements, the State of Alabama mandated 5% pay raise, softball and cheerleader camps for Discovery Middle School, a procedure that would allow the superintendent to approve support personnel salary assignments, and personnel actions.
Mr. Robby Parker introduced Ms. Christie Finley as the new assistant principal at Bob Jones High School.
Mr. Bobby Jackson, Transportation Coordinator, informed the Board and public of new start/end times for the middle and high schools. There were no changes to the elementary start time. The middle schools will start/end at 8:05 A.M. – 3:27 P.M. and the high school will start/end at 8:15 A.M. – 3:27 P.M.
