Board Meeting Notes


March 16, 2006

Mrs. Sue Helms, president, called the meeting of the Madison City Board of Education to order at 5:00 P.M. in the boardroom at the Teacher Resource Center and Central Office. 


Robby Parker, principal of Bob Jones High, School presented information on his schoolís Building Leadership Team to the Board and public. 


Mr. Parker, along with a Bob Jones High School parent, presented information on facility needs for the wrestling program at Bob Jones High School.


Mr. Bart Ferguson, principal at Rainbow Elementary School, presented his schoolís Building Leadership Team information to the Board and public.


Dr. Dee Fowler and his committee presented information to the Board and public concerning the evaluation of the school systemís athletic programs. 


Mrs. Kathy Rains, Director of Technology, presented information on an ACCESS grant the school system received for the Alabama Department of Education. The school system was one of three school systems within the state to receive the grant. The grant will provide additional distance learning and professional development opportunities for students and teachers.


The school board approved minutes from the meeting held on March 1, 2006, the 2006 Developmental Summer School programs for the preschool, elementary, middle, and high schools, textbooks for science and newly adopted courses at Bob Jones High School, a Multipurpose Sports building at Bob Jones High School, expansion of the weight room located at the field house at Bob Jones High School, and personnel actions.
