Board Meeting Notes


February 16, 2006

Mrs. Sue Helms, president, called the meeting of the Madison City Board of Education to order at 4:30 P.M. in the boardroom at the Teacher Resource Center and Central Office. 

The Board approved minutes from the meeting held on February 2, 2006. The Board also approved a change to a number/lettering designation on Policy JGD: Communicable and Infectious Diseases to JGCD: Communicable and Infectious Diseases, a bid for bleachers for Liberty Middle School, Change Order #2 for the Bob Jones High School cafeteria addition for an increased amount of $35,205.09, Change Order #2 for Discovery Middle School cafeteria addition for an increased amount of $6,211.71, and personnel actions. 

Principals of Columbia Elementary and Liberty Middle Schools presented information to the Board and public concerning their Building Leadership Teams. 

Ms. Maria Kilgore, director of special education, presented certificates to staff that assisted in preparing and collecting data for impact aid surveys. Ms. Kilgore also gave a breakdown by school of the number of students for which we receive impact aid money and the total monies collected over the years. 

Mr. Robby Parker, principal of Bob Jones High School, presented certificates and congratulated students that were announced as Presidential Scholar Candidates.

Mrs. Julie Finley, assistant principal of Bob Jones, recognized the Girls Indoor Track Team as the Winter Team GPA winners at Bob Jones High School. Coaches and players were presented with the Team GPA banner from Bob Jones High School.

Mr. Shannon Brown, football coach at Bob Jones High School, Mr. Robby Parker, principal of Bob Jones High School, and Dr. Fowler talked to the Board about a weight room expansion at Bob Jones High School.

The next board meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, March 1, 2006.
